Hong Kong Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation and The Hong Kong Society of Rheumatology Scholarship 2017-2018   
The Hong Kong Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation (HKARF) and the Hong Kong Society of Rheumatology (HKSR) are inviting applications for a limited number of awards to support overseas specialty training in rheumatology for the year 2017 to 2018.

(I) For Doctors in rheumatology services
1. The primary objective of these scholarships is to provide financial support to trainees / fellows in rheumatology who plan to obtain specialty training in overseas countries. Priority will be given to candidates who intend to develop special skills or novel diagnostic / therapeutic modalities in rheumatology in our locality.

2. Applying candidates will be short-listed by a Selection Panel appointed by both the HKARF and the HKSR, based on working experience, academic merits and the nature of the overseas programs. Short-listed candidates may be required to attend an interview.

3. The amount of grants available is as follows: 3-months’ training – HK$30,000 (lump-sum) 6-months’ training – HK$60,000 (lump-sum) Coverage: lump sum subsidy for costs of airfare and accommodation

4. Applicants must be full time doctors who are involved in rheumatology service. Trainees must be undertaking a supervised training program under the Hong Kong College of Physicians. Fellows must be registered under the specialty Rheumatology in the Medical Council of Hong Kong.

(II) For Allied health professionals

1. The primary objective of these scholarships is to provide financial support to allied health professionals currently working in the area of rheumatology and who plan to obtain specialty training in overseas countries. Priority will be given to candidates who intend to develop special skills or novel therapeutic modalities in rheumatology in our locality.

2. Applying candidates will be short-listed by a Selection Panel appointed by both the HKARF and the HKSR, based on working experience, academic merits and the nature of the overseas programs/attachments. Short-listed candidates may be required to attend an interview.

3. The amount of grants available is as follows: $10,000 per person Coverage: lump sum subsidy for costs of airfare and accommodation A total of 6 scholarships will be awarded per year

4. Applicants must be full time allied health professionals (including nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dieticians who are involved in rheumatology service.
